Our Story
A Touch of Kindness (ATOK) is a Sydney-based charity that supports people experiencing homelessness, hardship and social isolation through food relief, essential care items, clothing and community outreach. Founded by Con and Cathy Theocharides, the charity is built on the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and kindness. ATOK works directly with vulnerable individuals and families, providing practical support while also creating genuine human connection and a sense of belonging.
Today, we support approximately 300 people through our Weekly Feeding Program in the Sydney CBD, providing meals, care, and connection to people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage. We also support homeless individuals and families by helping meet their basic needs and essential necessities during times of hardship.
Our work is supported by a growing network of volunteers, corporate partners, sponsors, donors, and community organisations, allowing us to respond directly and compassionately to the needs of people in our community.
Founder Con brings a strong background in both business and community service. As a Founder and Managing Director of a successful market-leading Australian business, he has developed extensive leadership and organisational experience. His commitment to community service is also demonstrated through his involvement with organisations including Oz Harvest, St Raphael’s Antiochian Orthodox Christian Mission, Saint Elesa Food Initiative, and the Parish of St Catherine, Mascot.
Together, Con and Cathy have built A Touch of Kindness around a simple belief: everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and care. Our mission is to provide a Touch of Love, a Touch of Empathy, and a Touch of Kindness to those who need it most.
As written in Matthew 25:36-40:
I was naked and you clothed me
I was sick and you visited me
I was in prison and you came to me.Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
